Tae Kwon-Do is a Korean martial art of self-defense and is used by the Korean military.
In Korean Tae means “jump, kick or smash with the foot”, Kwon means “a fist to punch or destroy with the hand”, Do means “art, way or method”.
Tae Kwon-Do refers to a Korean fighting system, which uses the hands and feet to deliver high-energy impact techniques to the opponent. These techniques take the form of punches, strikes, kicks and blocks.
Tae Kwon-Do is rightly called a “martial art” because it actually has been employed by the Korean military. Even in this day and age of long-range weaponry, there are times when the soldier engages the enemy in hand-to-hand combat and it is under these circumstances that Tae Kwon-Do has proved itself effective.
Tae Kwon-Do is also an exciting combat sport in which skills are tested in a rigorously controlled competition wearing safety equipment. One form of Tae Kwon-Do is accepted in the Olympic Games

During your training you will use different aids, such as strike shields and focus pads. This will aid your power, focus, co-ordination and overall technique. Do not worry about your present fitness as we will slowly build your level safely
